On Monday, the England winger appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court wearing a grey hoodie and grey jogging trousers. According to the Daily Mail, members of the footballer’s family, as well as members of the press, sat in the public gallery. As he approached the courtroom, the 21-year-old was flanked by two dock officers. Before the court heard the specifics of the allegations against him, he spoke to confirm his identity, date of birth, and residence. District Judge Mark Hadfield then delayed proceedings until later Monday morning, when a decision on his bail arrangements will be made. The footballer was arrested for the first time in January on suspicions involving a young woman after photographs and videos were released online. He has been on bail since then, but was detained on Saturday in the Trafford region for an alleged breach of restrictions. The Crown Prosecution Service said shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday that it had authorised Greater Manchester Police to prosecute Greenwood. According to the Daily Mail, Janet Potter, the CPS North-deputy West’s Chief Crown Prosecutor, stated, “The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault causing actual bodily harm.” The Crown Prosecution Service said shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday that it had authorised Greater Manchester Police to prosecute Greenwood.
