NEPA Workers Arrested Over Stolen Transformer In Ekiti
Two Electricity workers in Ekiti State arrested over stolen Transformer and illegal possession Two former National Electricity Power Authority (NEPA) workers as well as fictitious military officers have been detained by the police in Oyo State on suspicion of transformer theft and illegal firearm possession. On Monday, October 31, the suspects and fifteen other offenders were paraded in front of the media at the state police command’s headquarters in Ibadan. SP Adewale Osifeso, the state’s police public relations officer, informed media that the two former NEPA personnel were detained by the command’s anti-crime patrol as a result of reliable information concerning their actions. According to Osifeso, the suspects were detained on Saturday in Ogbomoso’s Aroje neighbourhood. Along with the former NEPA employees, he said that five more individuals were detained in connection with the alleged transformer theft. He stated that the suspects were found to have a large transformer worth N5 million and a Toyota DAINA truck that was utilised to transport the transformer. According to the PPRO, the suspects admitted to taking the transformer out of its original location so they could transport it to their intended criminal target in Lagos State.
