Benzema Retires From International Football
After the epic World Cup loss, Karim Benzema has retired from France International team to focus on club football only Karim Benzema, a great football player for France and the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner, has declared his retirement from international competition. Exactly 24 hours ago, on Sunday night at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, France fell to Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. On Monday afternoon, Benzema posted on Twitter, saying, “I put in the time and made the errors necessary to get to where I am now, and I’m proud of it! My tale is over, and ours is coming to a close. Benzema was sent home from the tournament on the eve after suffering an injury, although there was some talk that he would play for Real Madrid in a friendly and then come back for the match against France. According to Daily Mail, he allegedly declined the chance to return to Qatar because of a dispute with manager Didier Deschamps. Deschamps already stated that he intends to discuss his future with the squad with the French Football Federation in the next year. He has now guided France to two World Cup finals, where they have won one and lost one. Contrarily, Benzema took home the Ballon d’Or for Player of the Year in 2022. Real Madrid won both titles in the 2021–2022 season, and Benzema led all scorers in both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga of Spain.
