Another Building Collapses In Ibadan
A two-story building has collapsed in Ibadan, state capital of Oyo State In the Ashi neighborhood of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, a two-story structure has fallen. Around two in the morning on Monday, the building—which is apparently utilized as a commerce and office complex—reportedly collapsed. No lives were lost in the event that at first caused alarm among locals, according to locals who spoke with our correspondent. Caterpillars were then invited to clear the debris in order to retrieve some of the products and appliances after it was claimed that goods were trapped under the wreckage. Another inhabitant, who went by the name Taye, said that the structure was built on land that had previously been a burial site. Taye said that before the structure was built on the plot of land, bodies were unearthed. He continued by saying that before to its eventual collapse, the building had been exhibiting signs of potential failure. No one was harmed or killed in the event, according to Saheed Akiode, the South-West Coordinator of the National Emergency Maintenance Agency. We visited there today, and from what we’ve heard, the building has been there for around 30 years. But because it happened at approximately two in the morning, nobody was around when it fell. There were attempts being made to rescue some of the appliances and other items from the office complex-style structure. But since nobody was there, we are glad that no one was hurt or killed. The building fell less than a month earlier, after the fall of an unfinished five-story building on Awosika Street in Bodija. The event, which occurred at approximately 5:30 in the morning, harmed some masons who were sleeping at the unfinished hotel.
