Senate Confirms Ariwoola As Chief Justice Of Nigeria
Justice Kayode Ariwoola is now officially the new chief justice of Nigeria Justice Olukayode Ariwoola’s nomination as Nigeria’s Chief Justice was approved by the Senate on Wednesday. Sen. Ibrahim Gobir, the Senate Minority Leader, made two moves for the upper house to screen Ariwoola when plenary resumed on Wednesday. When the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, submitted his proposals to a voice vote, the lawmakers approved them. Lawan demanded that the screening procedure be carried out earlier than it was indicated on the order paper. Ariwoola, all of the Supreme Court justices, the presidents of the Federal High Court, the Court of Appeal, the National Industrial Court, and the National Judicial Council then entered the chambers and took their places. The Senate then ordered Ariwoola to bow and adjourn.
