On Wednesday, Feb. 22, a Los Angeles tribunal sentenced the shooter who killed rapper Nipsey Hussle to 60 years to life in prison.

Eric Holder, who was convicted of first-degree murder in July for the death of Nipsey Hussle in a parking lot outside the rapper’s South Los Angeles clothing business on March 31, 2019, received the punishment after hearing from one of Hussle’s friends and receiving a letter from Holder’s father.

Holder’s sentencing hearing had been pushed back multiple times as his defense counsel, Aaron Jansen, argued for a lesser sentence, which the judge denied in December.

Holder was found guilty of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter in addition to the murder conviction after two other persons were injured in the incident.

Authorities stated that Holder, who was formerly a buddy and part of the same gang as Nipsey Hussle, was enraged over being labeled a snitch and that the shooting was planned in advance.

Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, has two children.
