A middle aged man has been arrested in Ogun State after being caught while bathing with blood
According to the Ogun State Police Command, police detained a 49-year-old man from No. 4 Oguji Street, Obantoko in Abeokuta for swimming in blood at a public river in the Kotopo neighborhood of the state’s Odeda Local Government Area.
According to a statement made by the police public relations officer in the state capital of Abeokuta, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was apprehended when neighbors saw him at the river bank where he had parked his Nissan commercial vehicle, coming out with a local sponge and a container filled with blood, and beginning to bathe with it.
He said on Thursday that as soon as he realized someone was observing him, he took off running but was pursued and caught by community members.
After the suspect was apprehended, a resident reportedly placed a call to the police at the Aregbe divisional headquarters. The Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police, Bunmi Asogbon, then promptly led the patrol squad to the site from which the suspect was apprehended.
“During questioning, the suspect claimed to have a spiritual issue and that a herbalist had given him the instructions to carry out the procedure.
The complaint said, “He also asserted that the blood in his possession is not human blood but cow blood.
Lanre Bankole, the state’s commissioner of police, has still ordered that the remaining blood be seized for testing to determine if it is human or not.
