Groom left his Bride shocked after being shot dead by mistake on their wedding day
At his own wedding, a groom was accidentally shot and killed, leaving his devastated wife drenched in his blood.
After the church ceremony, 32-year-old Marco Antonio was shot and killed in Caborca, Mexico, while holding the hand of his wife and making his way to the wedding car.
It is thought that rival city cartel gangs saw the IT engineer for a threat.
Local media said that Antonio’s sister had also been shot in the back.
Antonio’s death was certified by officials to have been caused by a “direct attack” with a gun, albeit it is possible that this was an error.
Tragically, a photo of his wife being assisted by a loved one was shown with her clothes covered in blood.
Carboca is home to the infamous Caborca Cartel, which is run by drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero. The gang are currently warring with the Los Salazar network over drug trafficking operations.
The prosecutor’s office said: “Investigations indicate that the attack against Marco Antonio was directed towards another individual who was also getting married at the same time in a different nearby city.
“No line of investigation is ruled out and all the necessary Criminal and Field Ballistics expert reports are carried out, in order to fully clarify the facts and find those responsible to do justice.”
Another groom was also shot at his wedding in a nearby city on the same night.
State governor Alfonso Durazo said: “This was an attack intended for a single individual and this means that this will not happen just to anyone.”
