Asiwaju Tinubu of APC not physically present at the peace pact
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’ nominee for president, was not present on Thursday when the now-usual peace accord was signed, unlike the nominees of other major parties.
However, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and others were present at the signing, in addition to Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s running partner.
According to news sources, the Independent National Electoral Commission revealed the final list of candidates for the presidential, senatorial, and federal seats on September 21, 2022, in accordance with the election schedule for 2023 that had been published earlier in the year.
Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner in Charge of Voters’ Education for INEC, who verified this in a statement, also put the list on its website.
There were 36 presidential contenders on the list, representing 18 different political parties.
At the federal level, 469 legislative slots (senatorial and federal constituencies) will be filled by a total of 4,223 candidates.
