Another building has collapsed in Lagos state with many trapped inside
A person who has yet to be named and a kid have been rescued from the wreckage of a three-story building that fell on Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, in Lagos State’s Mushin district.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, verified the event and stated that the rescue operation was still underway.
“A three-story structure has fallen at Oye Sonuga Street, near Oye Roundabout, Isolo road, Mushin,” he explained.
An adult and a kid were saved.
The search and rescue mission is still underway.”
Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyinyolu, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, who had also confirmed the event, claimed two female inmates were still missing.
“On arrival of the LRT at the area, it was noticed that a three-story structure had fallen,” he added.
“Further examination revealed that the collapsed structure was an adjacent three-story building.”
“Two trapped within the building have been rescued and treated.”
However, we were informed that two female building occupants are still missing.
“The search and rescue effort is still underway; LRT, LASG fire, LNSC, LABSCA, and NPF are all on the scene.”
“However, noticeable fissures in the remaining standing building require immediate treatment.”
The building has been evacuated and roped off.
The surgery is still going on.”
