Students of a University in Anambra found dead.
At the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam campus in Anambra State, three female students were discovered dead on Saturday.
The reason of their deaths remained unknown at the time this story was filed, but considering that the trio was apparently locked inside the room from the outside, several people suspected murder.
According to sources, the students were trapped inside the flat and when entry was achieved, two of them were discovered dead on their beds, while the third was discovered in the kitchen.
Although attempts to contact the state’s police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, were unsuccessful since his phone number was unreachable, the university’s spokesman, Dr. Harrison Madubueze, verified the occurrence in a statement.
“The university management received with rude shock the news of the death of three of our students. At the moment, the date, time and manner of their death are still uncertain.
“However, the security operatives are investigating the matter and at the appropriate time, they will make the findings public”, the statement reads partly.
According to Madubueze, the university had a brief vacation following its second semester exams and was unaware that any of its students in the second year class and above were remained in the campus area.
